The 8th Seminar on Environmental Auditing and 8th Working Meeting of ASOSAI WGEA were held via virtual video

From October 25 to 26, the 8th Seminar on Environmental Auditing and the 8th Working Meeting of ASOSAI WGEA were held via virtual video. Mr. Hou Kai, Auditor General of China and Chair of ASOSAI WGEA, attended the meeting and made a opening speech.

 

In the opening session, Mr. Hou Kai presented the Green Vision Award to SAI Thailand and participated in the unveiling ceremony of ASOSAI WGEA’s new logo. Mr. Prajuck Boonyoung, Auditor General of State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand, delivered the acceptance speech. During the Seminar meeting, all participants focused on two topics which “Audit Promoting Government Accountability for Environment” and “Audit on Climate Change” to discuss. Dr. Jian Liu, Director of the Science Division, UNEP and Dr. Li Haisheng, President of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, were invited to the Seminar meeting and made the relevant environmental speech. Also, 11 representatives from SAI Australia, Bahrain, China, Indonesia, India, Iran, Malaysia, Mauritius, Turkey, Philippines and Vietnam reported the country papers and shared the domestic environmental auditing cases.

 

During the Working Meeting, the Secretariat responsible for environmental auditing reported the work progress, and SAI Vietnam, China, Thailand reported the progress of the participated cooperative audit and cooperative scientific research projects. The Secretariat also collected opinions about the second online training program from all sides, explained the main thoughts on new column “GreenShare” to the homepage of the official website of ASOSAI WGEA, and put forward suggestions on the arrangements of the 9th Working Meeting on Environmental Auditing.

 

Considering that the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to exist in a certain period of time, Secretariat will draw on the successful experience and measures of the this meeting and actively respond to the suggestions from the representatives and organize more video conferences and online training.
