Plastic Waste Project Reviewed by INTOSAI WGEA Steering Committee 17th meeting

The 17th meeting of the INTOSAI WGEA Steering Committee reviewed and discussed the work package of plastic waste on 25 March, 2020.  The meeting, in an video-conference approach, was hosted by SAI Finland who currently chairs the WGEA. More than 14 member SAIs attended the meeting.

As the project leader, SAI India contributed its vision for the work package of plastic waste . The vision suggests to prepare a compendium of knowledge material which comprehensively encompasses all aspects of plastics and plastic waste management, including a research paper, an audit guidance note and an online training course for INTOSAI WGEA.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the scope and topics of the project. SAI China also introduced the relevant legal arrangements, regulations and categorization standardsof plastic waste in China.

Plastic waste project is one of the three research projects of INTOSAI WGEA Work Plan 2020-2022, aiming to facilitate the implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. There are more than 20 member SAIs participating in this research project, including SAI China.
