Research Project on Application of Big Data Analytics in Environmental Auditing progresses steadily

 In 2018, ASOSAI WGEA conducted an in-depth survey and analysis of the hot and difficult issues in environmental protection of Asian countries, and decided to carry out a research project of Application of Big Data Analytics in Environmental Auditing” in the framework of Work Plan of ASOSAI WGEA (2017-2019). Participated by 9 SAIs and led by SAI China as the Chair, this research is aimed to probe into application of big data analytics in various countries, summarize the experiences and analyze the future challenges, and further facilitate SAIs to apply big data analytics in environmental auditing.

Over the past year, thanks to joint efforts of all participating countries, especially great supports from SAIs of India and Kuwait, we have made steady progress in this research project with preliminary outcomes.During June 20-22, 2018, ASOSAI WGEA held Joint Kick-off Meeting for Cooperative Audit and Research Project in Nanjing, China. Ms. Qin Boyong, Deputy Auditor General of the CNAO, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. 11 auditors from SAIs of China, India, Kuwait and other countries attended the meeting. A research team has been set up for the project. After the meeting in Nanjing, we further developed the work plan and established a task force consisting of 9 experts.During January 22-24, 2019,ASOSAI WGEA held the 2nd Joint Meeting of research project in Bangkok, Thailand.After the meeting in Bangkok,we have fulfilled phased work tasks of the project.According to the project plan, we will finish the final report before late December 2019.
